JAMMU, Oct 7: The Competitions in Western Vocal (Solo) and Western Group Singing, were conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent” 2012-13, at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, here today.
In Western Vocal (Solo) Event, Shayaan Bhat from the Govt MAM College, Jammu, bagged the First Prize while Mukteshi Sharma from Govt. Women College, Parade and Tanushree from The Business School, University of Jammu, clinched Second and Third Prize, respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Osmaan Ali Watali from KC Law College, Jammu, Apoorva Jamwal from Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Sachin Raina from Govt Degree College (Boys), Udhampur.
In Western Group Song Competition, the team from The Business School, University of Jammu was declared as First whereas Govt Women College, Parade and Govt Degree College (Boys), Udhampur, were adjudged as Second and Third, respectively.
The every good presentation by the young participants, received thunderous applause from the audience. The notes of Synthesizer, Electric and Hollow Guitars as well as beats of the Drum Sets made the audience to clap and dance to the Rhythm and Tunes.
Jagdeep Singh, Suman Gupta and Gautam Kotwal, were amongst the adjudicators for the said events.
Dr Seema Sharma from The Law School, University of Jammu, was the Teacher Incharge for the Western Vocal (Solo) while Dr Arti Sharma from the Department of Zoology, University of Jammu, for the Western Group Singing. Both made the participants conversant with the Rules and Regulations of their respective activities.
The programme was compeered by Anshu Bala, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council.
Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the chief guest who distributed the prizes amongst the winners whereas Prof N K Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, presided over the function.
Among others, Nidhi Kaila, Secretary, Students Cultural Council & Harmeet Kour, Joint Secretary, were also present.
