JAMMU, Dec 8: Research scholar, Shabana Shabnam, Law Faculty, University of Jammu presented papers on ‘Good Governance and Democratic Decentralisation, the J&K Experience’ in the 3-day International Conference on ‘Gandhi Gram Swaraj and Democratic Decentralisation’, organized by Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA) at Mulamkunnathukavu, Thrissur, Kerala, recently.
The Conference was organized by Asia School of Local Governance (SAS) of KILA in collaboration with International Sociological Association.
The Conference was organised in the context of emerging importance of Gandhian thought and philosophy in democratic decentralisation and local governance. Apart from the paper presentations by scholars, there was special session for Gandhians like Ela Gandhi, grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi, former MP of South Africa, V Kalyanam, former Private Secretary to Mahatma Gandhi.
Shabana is doing research under Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Director Law School, Jammu University.
