JAMMU, Aug 18: Seven Day translator orientation programme for knowledge text Translation into Dogri in collaboration with National Translation Mission was inaugurated in Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, today.
On this occasion, Padmashree Padma Sachdev, renowned Dogri poet and novelist, Prof Champa Sharma,(Ex HoD PG Dept of Sanskrit, University of Jammu), Dr Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College and Sunil Choudhary NTM Mysore were present.
The programme began by lighting the lamp and welcome address by Dr Kiran Bakshi. She appreciated the efforts of NTM to popularize the literature via translations which will remove the obstacles of language problems.
Sunil Choudhary from NTM Mysore made a presentation and pointed out the basic objectives of NTM to create a body of translators trained and specialised in knowledge text translation. He also hoped that this will bridge the disparities and give a peep into our native societies, their setup, social problems, issues, status of women, myths and various practices prevailing in those cultures.
Prof Champa Sharma also spoke upon the importance of Dogri language which mirrors the glorious past of Dogra heritage, literature and culture. Padmashree Padma Sachdev urged everybody to promote this language in masses and motivate young generations to speak with pride. It was attended by about 80 College and University teachers across the State.
Dr Gitanjali Rana, local coordinator of workshop thanked one and all for their presence and support.
This is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to bring the Nation states and region closer by transcending the barriers of language.
The programme will conclude on August, 25, 2014.
