Students continue to vie for title in Inter Collegiate Tournaments

JAMMU, Sept 25: Students continue to vie for the title in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Tournaments in various disciplines, being organized by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at different venues in the varsity campus here today.
In Women section of Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament, GDC Udhampur beat GCET Jammu by 3-2.The match was decided through best versus best game, as it remained 2-2 draw during the stipulated game. ASCOMS Jammu beat GDC Reasi by 2.5-1.5 points, GDC Kathua beat GLDM College Hiranagar by 3-1 points and GCW Parade defeats YCET Jammu by 4-0 points.
In men section of Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament, GCET Jammu beat GDC Samba by 4-0 points, MBS College of Engineering and Technology beat Trikuta Degree College Nardani by 3-1 points, ASCOMS Jammu beat GDC Ramnagar by 3-2 and the match was decided through best versus best game, GDC Kathua beat GDC Billawar by 3.5-0.5 points, GDC Udhampur beat GDC Bhaderwah by 4-0 points and PG Department JU beat GDC Poonch by 3-1 points.
Tomorrow, the semifinal matches of the women section and quarter final matches of the men section will be played.
The matches were officiated by SP Sharma, Sushil Sawhney and PD Singh.
Meanwhile, semis line up has been drawn in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Basketball Tournament for men and women at University’s Basketball courts.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal matches, GDC Kathua beats GDC Hiranagar by 31-13, GCET Jammu beat GDC Ramnagar by 40-6, GDC Paloura beats YCET Jammu by 14-8 and PG Department beats GDC Samba by 27-2 in men section.
The semi finals matches will be played between GDC Kathua and GCET Jammu and PG Department GDC Paloura in men section.
In women section, the semifinals matches will be played between GCW Parade and GDC Kathua and ASCOMS Jammu and PG Department tomorrow.
The matches were officiated by Rajesh Bandral, Vaneet Pangotra, Manoj Kumar Solanki, Ranbir Singh, Sanjeev Jamwal and Shivam Gupta.
In Inter Collegiate Cricket Tournament, GDC Kishtwar defeated GDC Bhaderwah by 44 runs and sailed into the semis, whereas PG (Arts) JU registered win over GDC Reasi by a huge margin of 69 ruins and registered berth in the final. GDC Kathua defeated GDC Samba by 3 wickets and entered into semifinal.
