Seminar on sports injuries held

JAMMU, Nov 22: Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council organized one day seminar on sports injuries, which was attended by different sports and games.
The seminar was presented by Dr Sumit Mahajan, MS, DNB, MCh (Orthopaedics), who has got specialized training in sports medicine and Joint replacement from AIIMS, New Delhi and Germany.
The participants were educated about various sports injuries, their prevention and cure. Special emphasis was given on recent advances in form of arthroscopic or keyhole surgeries, which can give a sports player a new professional life.
The seminar was followed by question and answer session where the doctor cleared the doubts and problems being faced by the participants in the practice sessions.
Rajan, Divisional Sports Officer, said that such seminars are very important to raise the standard of sports in Jammu and Kashmir. It not only educates them for various sports related problems but also provides remedies for their injuries, he added.
On the occasion, Dr Sumit Mahajan offered free consultation to all injured sports player and coaches at SDDM Hospital, Channi Himmat, Jammu, for which they earlier have to go outside State for the treatment.
