RAJOURI, May 17: A Chess seminar was organised under the J&K Govt initiative “My Youth My Pride” at Army Auditorium Brigade Headquarter Naushera for the youth of border area which was held under the guidance of Brig Kapil Rana, Col Ravi Kumar and Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association, here today.
Maj Vineet Kumar and Zonal Physical Education Officer, Bikram Jeet Choudhary were the coordinators of the program .
The awareness lecture was delivered by Atul Kumar Gupta and also joint secretary of the Chess Federation in presence of Baldev Raj and other Officers of Youth Services and Sports Department.
Gupta thanked the Indian Army and YSS Department for coordinating such a wonderful program for border youth and briefed all about the thrilling game of Chess. He also explained to them about the career benefits the game offers as per new J&K Sports Policy and future prospects for sportspersons.
AJKCA distributed e-book among the participants for self improvement of the game and also assured all types of support for border youth. Atul Kumar Gupta also invited interested youth for a high level camp at Jammu to be organized by AJKCA very soon.
The motive of the program was to involve youth in sports and constructive activities and channelize their energies in a positive direction.
The event will continue tomorrow with Chess events and prizes worth Rs 23000 will be distributed among winners by the Indian Army along with certificates and medals.
