JAMMU, Dec 26: Eminent psychologist, guide, councillor and social activist, Seema Agarwal inaugurated the State Level Inter-District Youth Festival in an impressive, well attended and colourful function at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Around 200 boys and girls drawn from 12 districts of the State took part in the Festival and presented variety of cultural events.
Rich cultural heritage was displayed by the youth in colourful costumes in a festive atmosphere during the day.
Appreciating the participants for their superb display of skill despite chilly weather conditions, the chief guest Mrs Agarwal said that the best selected cultural items depicting cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir, will be presented the National Youth Festival to be held at Guwahati in Assam.
Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal, under whose patronage the event was organized, distributed certificates and prizes among the winners in in various categories on the occasion. He said the selected youth ill be deputed to represent the State in the National Youth Festival to be held at Guwahati .
Director Nehru Yuva Kendra, SS Kashyap; Cultural Officer, J&K Cultural Academy, Anil Tickoo and District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kishtwar, Dewan Chand Thakur were the adjudicators of the event.
The vote of thanks was presented by Kanchan Bala, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by b k Tickoo and Rajinder Kotwal.
Rupinder Jeet Kour, Assistant Director DYSS and Sukhdev Raj, DYSSO Jammu were also present on the occasion.
