JAMMU, Mar 20: A 10 days Coaching Camp cum Competition in Gymnastics was inaugurated by Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Naseem Javaid Chowdhary in the presence of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnastic Hall, Indoor Sports Complex, here.
Gymnasts drawn from across the State will take part in the Camp, which will be followed by the 3-day State Level Gymnastics Competition.
It is pertinent to mention here that this State Level Coaching Camp is organized by the J&K State Sports Council after a gap of nearly 18 years in which the campers will be trained under the expert coaching of Gymnastics coaches of repute including SP Singh, Kurpali Patel Singh and Manisha Gupta.
The outstation campers provided with free boarding and lodging facilities, besides refreshment.
The Camp will be organized under the overall supervision of Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu.
On the occasion, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council also announced that Sports Council will shortly start Gymnastics Academy at Jammu and Srinagar to give boost to the young Gymnasts of the State. He also lauded the achievement of Gymnast Bavleen Kour, Palak Brijal and Mitali at National and International level. Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiative of Sports Council for organizing this type of Coaching Camp.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer, Ashok SinghManager MA Stadium, Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Sports Complex, Jammu, besides Coaches of Sports Council, Non-Coaching Staff and large numbers of parents.
