28th Annual Football C’ship in full swing

JAMMU, Mar 6: 28th Annual Football Championship got underway in full swing at GGM Science College Ground, here today.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) was the chief guest of the event who introduced the team players and interacted with them, while Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer JKSC was the guest of honour.
Three matches were played today wherein J&K Police XI defeated DFA Poonch by 4-0 goals, whereas the second match was played between SCFA XI & Young Rovers FC. Both the teams played quality Football but the match ended with 1-1 draw, thereafter, the Young Rovers FC defeated SCFA XI by 5-4 goals in the tie breaker and the last match of the day was played between NGR FC and DFA Reasi XI in which NGR FC defeated DFA Reasi XI by 5-0 goals.
During the interaction with players, the chief guest was apprised regarding difficulties being faced by young budding players due to lack of the facilities at playing ground. The Secretary gave on the spot instructions to her staff to improve the conditions of the ground and other allied facilities.
She also laid stress on providing best possible infrastructural facilities to the youth of the UT, so that they excel in the field of sports. All the members of JKFA were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir Chapter of 28th Annual Football Championship 2020-21 was also inaugurated today at Sports Stadium Anantnag.
The inaugural match of the championship was played between DFA Shopian XI and DFA Pulwama XI wherein DFA Pulwama defeated DFA Shopian by 4-1 goals.
