JAMMU, Nov 21: Sayam Baria of Udhampur displayed a high level of class to win the Jammu division selection Chess Championship, organised at IIT Jammu (Nagrota) with the support of IIT Jammu Sports Club.
Aryan got 2nd position, while Ashutosh Jamwal got 3rd place. A total of 10 players from this event will participate in the upcoming J&K UT Chess Championship along with 10 top players from Kashmir province and four top players from the previous J&K UT Chess event.
Other players in top 10 from Jammu province included Ajit Singh, Ravi Kumar, Shubdeep, Arvindu Sharma, Mayank Kulkarni, Rashiv Khajuria and Aarav Gupta.
The event was organized by the Jammu division selection committee under the banner of All J&K Chess Association. The event was organised by Ajit Singh, chairman Jammu division selection committee and Arvindu Sharma vice chairman of selection committee.
The FIDE arbiter Ranjeet Singh from Ramban was the chief arbiter of the event who conducted all the matches as per latest FIDE laws of Chess.
The players appreciated the wonderful arrangements of IIT Jammu.
