JAMMU, Oct 23: District Samba and District Baramulla outplayed their rivals in the State Level Inter District Under-19 Boys Hockey Tournament, which got underway at KK Hakhu Stadium, here today.
The Tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as a part of annual calendar of sports activities under the patronage of Jehangir Mir, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director and Sukhdev Raj, DYSSO Jammu.
In all, 96 boys drawn from various districts of State are taking part in the Tournament.
The Tournament was declared open by Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu in a simple function.
Earlier, in the inaugural match, Samba district defeated Udhampur by three goals to two (3-2). For Samba, Varun, Ramneek and Nikhil scored one goal each, while from Udhampur, Nizakat and Netar scored one goal each.
In another match, Baramulla defeated Kathua by three goals to nil (3-0). Arshveer scored 2 goals and Harvinder netted one goal.
The matches were officiated by Gurmeet Singh, Satvinder Singh, Karanjeet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Jajjit Singh.
