SAMBA, Mar 19: District Athletics Meet, organised by Athletic Association of J&K got underway at Sports Stadium Smailpur, here today.
Narender Singh, International Tug of War player was the chief guest of the opening ceremony.
In under-14, 60 mtrs, Abhishek Katal, Kerthgya and Harshdeep Singh won top three medals, while in under-16, Akshdeep Singh, Deepanshu Dubey and Jatin Bhagat clinched top three places in 100 mtrs and first three positions in 300 mtrs were secured by Vishu Sharma, Avtar Singh and Vansh Kumar, besides in 100 mtrs under-20, Gourav Singh, Tinku Kumar and Akhileshwar Singh won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, whereas in long jump, Gourav Singh, Aman Khaokar and Vishwamiter Bhagat won top three places and in shot put, Yuvraj, Naman Manhas and Abhishek Kumar clinched top three positions respectively.
In open category 100 mtrs boys, Vikas Sumbria, Rahul Kumar Dogra and Vishab won top three places and in long jump, Mintu Khajuria, Karan and Harsh Nagar clinched first three places and in girls category (60 mtrs), Sharda, Muskan and Vaishnavi won top three positions respectively.
The meet was officiated by Parveen Singh, Rakesh Singh Charak and Nirmal Singh.
