JAMMU, Jan 31: Oil Industry J&K comprising IOC, BPC & HPC under the flag of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) organized a cycle rally wherein over 200 cyclists participated, here today.
The Cyclothon was flagged off by chief guest Deepak Digra, SP City Jammu South in presence of Rajiv Yadav, State Level Co-coordinator cum DGM (RS) IOCL from Indian Oil Divisional Office complex at Rail Head Jammu.
The objective of the Cyclothon was to make the citizens aware about the need of conservation of petroleum products as these are limited and will deplete over the years to come. Deepak Digra gave a brief on oil conservation by employing various day to day activities.
He particularly emphasized on using helmets & other safety kits for safety while riding bicycles, whereas Rajiv Yadav also briefed the gathering that how excessive use of petroleum products is causing damage to the environment and raising other alarming issues like global warming.
Rakesh Roshan Senior Manager Indian Oil Corporation informed that a month-long awareness programme was inaugurated on January 16 under title Saksham 2021 (Sanrakshan Kshmata Mahotsav) which will conclude on February 15.
“Various activities are being observed during this period which will include painting, essay competitions in schools, workshops for drivers, mechanics, LPG workshops etc,” he announced.
Ravinder Singh, President Jammu Cycling Association was the guest of honour who briefed about the achievements of UT based cyclist in national cycling events. The rally was passed through various areas of Jammu city and culminated finally at Indian Oil Petrol Pump at Nagrota Bye Pass.
