JAMMU, Oct 9: Sajaad Hussain of Jammu, Inderjeet Singh of Jammu and Yaar Mohammad of Poonch bagged the 100 Mtrs sprint gold in Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 boys respectively in the Divisional Level Inter-District Athletic Meet, which got underway at Jammu University Grounds, here today.
Vijay Kumar of Samba and Noor Ali of Kathua claimed silver and bronze in Under-14 boys, while Nitin Sharma of Samba and Shiv Kumar of Kathua bagged silver and bronze medals in Under-17 boys respectively. The silver and bronze medals in Under-19 boys went to Amandeep Singh of Kathua and Koushal of Jammu respectively.
The Meet is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Naveen Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
225 athletes drawn from various districts of Jammu province participated in the Meet, which was declared open by the chief guest, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in a simple but well attended function.
Earlier, Ved Parkash presented welcome address, while Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director Central Youth Services and Sports J&K distributed medals among the winners.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Jaswant Singh.
Later, Tirath Ram, DYSSO Jammu presented the vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were ZPEOs Sarita Pandha, Jeet Singh, Saroman Dogra and Sher Singh.

800 Mtrs Under-17 boys: Mohd Abass of Poonch, gold; Parveer Ahmed of Jammu, silver and Ranjeet Singh of Udhampur, bronze.
800 Mtrs Under-19 boys: Ishtiaq Ahmed of Poonch, gold; Yash Paul of Jammu, silver and Jagdev Singh of Reasi, bronze.
5000 Mtrs Under-19 boys: Ajay Kumar of Samba, gold; Shubam Singh of Jammu, silver and Sahil Kumar of Kathua, bronze.
Long Jump Under-14 boys, Shabir Ahmed of Samba, gold; Sahil Kumar of Jammu, silver and Showket Ali of Kathua, bronze.
