JAMMU, Sept 29: Sainik Colony defeated Vijay Club in a close contest by a solitary goal (1-0) in the Senior Division Football League Tournament, which got underway, here today.
After a goalless first half, Ishan Verma of Sainik Colony Club pelted a splendid goal in the 47th minute to help his team to get a much needed lead. Finally the team won by the same margin.
The match was officiated by Rakesh Kumar, Rinku Gill, Suresh Gupta and Moon Stephen.
Young Rovers will take on N.G.R in the first match at 2:30 pm tomorrow, while Musa Club will lock horns with Jammu Sports at 3:30 pm.
S K Chouhan, SP City was the chief guest on the inaugural function, while prominent among others present on the occasion were Sheikh Mehmood, SM Gill, David Masih, Ramesh Chander, Mohinder Verma, Varinder Gupta, Charan Dass, Harbans Lal and Krishan Lal.
