Saffron Club wins inaugural tie by 5 wkts

JAMMU, Sept 13: Saffron Cricket Club scripted 5-wicket win over Harmukh Cricket Club in the inaugural match of the 1st Inter-State Koushur Cricket Tournament which got underway at Mohan Meakins Ground Ghaziabad, today.
According to the reports reaching here, 8 teams drawn from various States of the country are participating in this tournament, which is the first of its kind being organized by Koushur Cricket Club, New Delhi with an objective to promote cricket in Kashmiri Pandit Community.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Harmukh Cricket Club scored a modest total of 115 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Ashwani Bhat slammed a splendid half-century, scoring 56 runs with the help of 2 fours and four sixes, while Dilip Bhat and Ashish Goel contributed 21 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Saffron Club, Imran scalped 2 wickets, while Ashu Razdan and Narender claimed one wicket each.
Saffron Club, in reply chased the target in 19 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Imran top scored with 28 runs, while Deepak Koul contributed 26 runs to the total, hitting two massive sixes. Rohit Razdan also chipped in 13 runs. Ashok and Dilip bagged 2 wickets each for Harmukh Club. For his superb all-round show Imran of Saffron Club was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Ashok and Jait as umpires, while Sagar maintained the scorebook.
Prominent among others present in the inaugural ceremony were Ashutosh Thaploo, Rajesh Langer, Umesh Negri, Sanjay Kher, Vicky Matoo, Nitin Bakshi, Sagar and Amit Qazi.
