SRINAGAR, Nov 25: The 14th UT level Rugby 7’s Championship, organised by J&K Rugby Association and sponsored by J&K Sports Council, concluded at Polo Ground, here today.
The Championship was inaugurated by Mohd Iqbal, Manager Indoor Sports Complex, Polo Ground on November 21.
The championship was held in both male and female in sub-junior, junior and senior categories wherein players from Jammu and Kashmir participated. Irfan Aziz was organising secretary, while the general secretaryTariq Ahmad Zargar was special guest of the event.
Day-1: in sub-junior girls, Gold was won by Jammu, Silver by Srinagar and Bronze by Budgam, while in junior, Jammu clinched Gold, Silver by Srinagar and Bronze by Pulwama and in the senior, Gold was clinched by Srinagar, Silver by Jammu and Bronze by Baramulla.
Day-2: In toddlers, Gold was secured by Taqwa School Budgam, Silver by Budgam and Bronze by Jammu, while in sub-junior, Gold was won by Kupwara, Silver by Pulwama and Bronze by Srinagar.
Day-3: in under-17 boys, Gold was won by Srinagar, Silver by Bandipora and Bronze by Kupwara.
At the closing ceremony the chief guest was Faisal Ali Dar (Padma Shree Awardee) and he distributed prizes among the winners. On the last day of the event, the overall trophy was lifted by Srinagar with the highest gold in the medal tally, while Kupwara took the runners trophy.
Day-4: in senior men, Gold by Royal Rugby Club, Silver by Srinagar and Bronze was shared by Kupwara and Bandipora.
