JAMMU, Sept 11: Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (Thanamandi) of the Romeo Force organized a Trekking Tour to Kharimarg to Panjsar for the youth of Rajouri district which was flagged in by Major General PS Bajwa, GOC, Romeo Force at YEGN, Thanamandi, today.
The tour was organised under Operation Sadbhavana.
The ceremony was attended by prominent members of civil administration, J&K Police and civil dignitaries of Thanamandi along with parents and friends of participants.
During the trek, the youth successfully completed their tour to Neriyan Gali, Kharimarg, Shakarmarg, Ding Sar and Nandan Sar.
They also participated in a friendly cricket match at an altitude of 11600 ft. The youth were introduced to 5.56 INSAS rifle and fired these weapons apart from learning various survival activities like tent pitching, crew cooking and first aid.
The primary aim of the tour was to motivate children from the remote areas to get a first hand feel of the adventure and introduce the sport of hiking.
