JAMMU, Nov 26: Road Safety XI trounced Simula Cricket Club by 28 runs in a good contest and lifted the title trophy of 7th Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Cup, organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with Simula Cricket Club, KC Sports Club and Vishal Cricket Club at KC Sports Ground here today.
In the valedictory function, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Jammu Zone was the chief guest, while SSP JS Johar, SSP Kulbir Singh, Ranjeet Kalra Member JKCA, Arjun Choudhary Managing Partner KC Sports Group, SP Amritpal Singh and Vikrant Sharma Cluster Programming Head J&K 92.7 BIG FM were the guests of honour. DDP Parshotam Sharma, DySP Seema Nabi, DySP Sandeep Singh and DySP Varun Jandial were the special guests.
IGP along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winner and runner-up team. The medals and trophies were also distributed among the U-10 boys. Earlier, Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player and Organizing Secretary of the event presented a detailed report about the seventeen-day long tournament.
In the summit clash, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Road Safety XI scored 119 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Istiaq was top scorer with 35 runs, while Hinan chipped in 34 runs and Irshad scored 17 runs.
From bowling side, Raman, Satish and Kuldeep took 2 wickets each, while Thapa scalped 1 wicket. In reply, Simula Cricket Club failed to chase the target and managed to score 91 runs by losing all the wickets thus lost the match by 28 runs. Manjeet scored 40 runs, Atul made 14 runs and Puneet chipped in 10 runs.
From the bowling side, Rinku took 4 wickets, Rompy, RK Bhat, Istiaq, Bhalwan and Arvind took 1 wicket each. Rinku of Road Safety was adjudged as Man of the match in final match, while Raman Dutta of Simula was declared as Best Bowler, Lakhan of Vishal Cricket Club as Best Batsman and Hinan of Road Safety XI as Man of the Series for his brilliant batting performance. The matches were officiated by Sadiq Husain, Ashok Kumar, Sanju and Vijay whereas the proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by famous anchor Sudhir Singh.
