Ritvik wins twin title, Ragini emerges women’s champ

42nd Stag J&K TT Championship concludes

JAMMU, Oct 22: Getting better of Manandeep Singh in Men’s and Youth Boys’ finals, Ritvik Gupta won twin titles, while promising Ragini stunned talented Iknoor Kour in a nail-biter to claim Women’s title in the 42nd Stag J&K Table Tennis Championship which concluded, here today.
In men’s final, Ritvik defeated Manandeep by 3-1, while in Youth summit clash, Ritvik thrashed Manandeep by 3-0. Ragini got the better of Iknoor in a close contest by 3-2.
Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the closing ceremony, who witnessed the final match and distributed the prizes amongst the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the organisers for a successful tournament and hailed the sportsman spirit and the efforts put in by the participants. He encouraged them and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.
He also ensured of every possible help to the organisers in uplifting the game of Table Tennis in the State.
Results: Cadet Boys Final; Ritvik beat Rudraksh 3-2; Cadet Girls Finals, Hargun drubbed Mishti 3-2; Sub Jr Boys Final, Sarthak outplayed Akhilesh 3-2; Sub Jr Girls Final, Iknoor trounced Ragini 3-1; Jr Boys Final, Akhilesh beat Maanay 3-0; Jr Girls Final, Iknoor outclassed Ragini 3-2; Youth Boys Final, Ritvik beat Manandeep 3-0; Men’s Final, Ritvik defeated Manandeep 3-1; Women’s Final, Ragini prevailed over Iknoor 3-2; Vetran Men’s Final, Dr Prabhjot outclassed Mahesh Khajuria 3-1; Men Doubles, IP Singh and Maninder Singh trounced Anuj and Manandeep Singh 3-2.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion were Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, Ravi Singh, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Manmeet Kour, Sheetal Gandotra, Sanjeev Gupta, Vikas Magotra and Gurvinder Singh Sasan.
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra (NIS Table Tennis coach), Gurvinder Singh Sasan (NIS Table Tennis coach), Meenu Rajesh and Asad Sharma.
