JAMMU, Dec 12: Ritvik Gupta defeated Hanumat Sharma in nail biting contest by 3-2 sets in final of men’s singles, while Iknoor emerged winner in junior girls final by defeating Ragini Gupta by 3-2 sets, played at Indoor Complex of MA Stadium, here today.
Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez was the chief guest who witnessed the final match and distributed the prizes among the winners. The chief guest himself being a former Table Tennis State champion shared his sports journey with the budding players and the practice schedule they use to follow during their playing era.
He congratulated the organisers for a successful tournament during these challenging pandemic times and hailed the sportsman spirit and the efforts put in by the participants.
Dr Zaffer, CAO was the guest of honour of closing ceremony.
Cadet boy’s final, Gourav defeated Vijual by 3-1 sets while in sub junior boys final, Tejas trounced Rohan by 3-2 sets and in sub junior girls final, Iknoor beat Ragini by 3-1 sets.
In junior boys final, Saksham defeated Maanay by 3-0 sets while in junior girls final, Iknoor got better of Ragini by 3-2 sets and in mens final Ritvik beat Hanumat by 3-2 sets.
In veteran mens final, Amit trounced Mahesh Khajuria by 3-1 sets
The matches were officiated by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra (coach), Gurvinder Singh Sasan (coach), Meenu Rajesh and Asad Sharma.
Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Saleem Bandey (Secretary Poonch District TT Association), Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra and Sanjeev Gupta (presidents J&K Billards & Snooker Association), Vikas Gupta (Secretary J&K Judo Association), Gurvinder Singh Sasan, Riyaz Ahmed, Jahangeer and Riyaz were among prominent who graced the event.
