Resumption of JKCA activities soon

Excelsior Sports Correspondent
JAMMU, July 12: With the season in sight, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is all set to resume its cricketing activities soon in order to prepare State teams for the forthcoming tournaments to be held under the banner of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The step in this regard has already been taken by the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, Dr Farooq Abdullah, by framing 6-member committee in each region of the State.
With the heavy weights like ML Nehru, Mehboob Iqbal, Ramesh Mahajan and Abdur Rouf in these committees, one expects the resumption of the activities at an earliest. However, with none of the current office bearers being part of the committees, one gets a feeling as to what would be the mandate of these committees.
Meanwhile, when contacted Manzoor Wazir, treasurer JKCA said that the formation of the committee was need of the hour as the association does not want the activities and the players to suffer in the prevailing scenario in JKCA.
Ranjeet Kalra, chairman, Media Committee JKCA when contacted said that Dr Farooq Abdullah’s decision is the final word in JKCA, adding that the association needed to start cricket activities in the State, especially in the Valley and what ever the president desired should happen.
It is pertinent to mention here that for running cricket activities in the State, Farooq Abdullah has constituted the 6-member committee including Mehboob Iqbal, Ramesh Mahajan, Brajinder Singh, Tilak Singh, Jung Bahadur and Nirmal Singh in Jammu, while ML Nehru, Abdur Rouf, Majid Drabu, Iqbal Shah, Nayeem Bakshi and Shiban Lal Trakroo are the committee members of Kashmir province.
