An electric pole at Paloura near Bonn Bread Factory tilted sometimes back and is dangerously poised. A high tension electric wire of 33000 KV runs over it.
In case the pole is not replaced, it may pose danger to the colony people living around it.
The authorities are requested to make an on the spot assessment of the situation, and take measures accordingly.

Flooding in Urban areas
It may sound a bit irre rainy season is about five months away from now.Our recent data unfortunately reveals a dim picture as since last two decades, it is seen that every year many colonies within urban limits of Jammu are flooded and water logged. The reason is primarily due to lack of determining root causes and non-serious approch towards preparedness to mitigate this havoc. It is an open secret that many prominent natural flowing non- peripheral Nallah have been hugely encroached upon due to mushrooming of unauthorised colonies.
It has reduced the original width to accommodate the flood water to flow during rainy season.I have regularly gone through the column “Municipal Ward Update” in Daily Excelsior where majority of the Councillors have highlighted the problem of Nallah flooding during rainy season particularly in parts of the areas in Wards of Jammu South and East Jammu.Though few areas in Jammu West too are affected due to flooding. It is worthwhile to make mention of acute flooding that posed alarming situation when 4-5 feet deep water logging took place in Trikuta Nagar Sector 5 (Extn) during rainy season of 2014. During rainy season of 2021 some houses in Trikuta Nagar (Sector -5, Extn) were again water logged due to over flowing of nalla due garbage blockade.Similarly a bridge in Gadigarh was washed away affecting the vital road link.
Even few houses in Nanak Nagar and Digiana were badly affected due to water logging. Surprisingly there are cases of water logging with filthy water/mud in some houses of the so-called posh locality of Gandhinagar as well. There was hue and cry for few days but gradually the matter has become the issue of the past. I wish to appeal the concerned authorities that still we have five months time to address the issue as a step towards preparedness so as to mitigate the problem.I feel that all the major Nallas particularly having adequate catchment areas from higher elevation need to be assessed from a team of expertise in association with officials of Town Planning wing of JMC so that some concrete measures are suggested from team of experts. The integrated approach may bring out the effective measures to mitigate this problem. There is a need to pay serious attention towards the causes that led to removal of the rampant encroachment on banks of these nallas. The concerned authorities need to focus and prepare a roadmap to tackle this problem on priority.

Kind attention of the authorities of Jammu Municipal Corporation is invited towards the bad condition of roads and drains of Lane No. 04, Block-B, Roopnagar Extension-1, Ward No.-64. The continuous neglect in the repair of the roads, as well as drains, has become a cause of serious concern and a health hazard as well as death trap for the residents. Vacant plots have turned into dumping sites.
The Mayor is requested to mitigate the sufferings of the inhabitants and that too at the earliest.

Scarcity of drinking water in Ishwar Nagar Colony Udheywala
The residents of Ishwar Nagar in Ward No.61 comprising of about 50 families in Udheywala area who are being supplied drinking water from the PHE Pump Station Muthi are facing hardships for the last so many years due to insufficient and irregular water supply for all seasons despite the fact that water tax bills are being regularly paid by inhabitants. All the requests made by the inhabitants of this locality for supplying the drinking water sufficiently and regularly have fallen on deaf ears. In response to various grievances on LG portal, concerned authorities made a fake reply that water supply is being provided for 45 minutes regularly but the fact lies that water is not being supplied regularly and sufficiently. The supply pipe line was laid some 15 years ago and presently it doesn’t cater to needs of residents. The Department concerned despite seized of the matter has not so for taken any step in order to ensure regular and sufficient drinking water to the people living in the colony. The L.G and the Chief Engineer concerned are requested to look into the matter so that grievances concerning the people of the area are redressed immediately.

Overloading continues to be one of the major concerns in Udhampur town. This problem has been highlighted a number of times but no resolution has been found to it. Though Traffic Police has set up numerous nakas, but these have not proved effective in curbing the menace. The overloading in many parts of town is a serious threat to safety of commuters. The weay out of it into press more matadors in service, and act tough against the violators of traffic rules and those indulging in overloading.
