RCC Srinagar takes on Samar Club in summit clash

JAMMU, Mar 20: Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar and Samar Cricket Club registered resounding victories over their rivals and entered into the finals of the 3rd Police Martyrs’ Cricket Tournament, being organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu at  KC Sports Club Ground, here.
Now, the two teams will lock horns with each other in the summit clash on March 22, 2014 at the same venue.
Earlier, in the first match, Samar Cricket Club defeated Poonch Cricket Club by 4 wickets.
Batting first, Poonch Cricket XI scored 134 runs in stipulated 20 overs for loss of 6 wickets, with  Rupinder(38) and  Ankush(21) being the main scorers. Rohit took 3 wickets, while Monu and Tinku took 2 wickets each. Udhey also claimed one wicket.
In reply, Samar Club chased the target in 16.5 overs. Monu Sharma was the top scorer with 48 runs, Chamkor Singh and Abhishek Jamwal scored 46 and 22 runs respectively. Deepak, Adnan, Imran, Gurvinder and Akhil shared one wicket each. Monu Sharma of Samar Cricket Club was declared man of the match.
In the second match, RCC Srinagar scripted a resounding win over the star-studded Simula Cricket Club in a low scoring game.
Batting first, Simula Club bundled out for a meagre total of 78 runs in 16.2 overs. Shashi (23), Nasir (19) and Hardeep Singh (10) were the main scorers for  Simula Club. Jatinder was the pick of the bowlers for RCC Srinagar, who took 4 important wickets, while Vimarsh Kaw scalped 3 wickets. Satish Kumar took 2 wickets, while Nitin Mehra claimed one wicket.
In reply, RCC Srinagar chased the target easily in 12 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Satish(28*), Rahul Musa (14*) and Puneet (11) were the main scorers. For Simula Club,  Hardeep Singh and Dhruv Mahajan took 2 wickets each, while Sameer  took one wicket. Jatinder was adjudged man of the match for his superb bowling display.
The matches were officiated by Suhail, Arun, Sunil Sambyal, Naresh, Ambrose, Vinod and Vishal.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of IGP Jammu, while other committee members include Ashok Sharma, SP SO to IGP, Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and organizing secretary, Rajinder Singh, DySP DAR Jammu, Inspector Arun Jamwal, Inspector Satvinder Singh, Inspector Vishal Sharma, Inspector J V Singh, SI Vijay Kumar and SI Inderjeet Sharma.
