RCC Srinagar, Jammu Cricket Club sail into QFs

JAMMU, Mar 12: registering convincing victories over t their rivals in the league matches, the formidable sides of Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar and Jammu Cricket Club (JCC), Jammu qualified for the quarterfinals of the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Sports Club at GGM Science College ground, here.
In the first match played today, RCC defeated Shinning Star Cricket Club by 5 wickets in a close contest.
Batting first, Shinning Star Club scored a fighting total of 131 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Dimple was the top scorer with 51 runs, while Bunty and Sudesh contributed 19 and 18 runs to the total respectively. For RCC, Sourav Chopra, Kuldeep Kumar and Dilbagh Singh took 2 wickets each, while Puneet claimed one wicket.
In reply, RCC chased the target in the last over by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Parveen Singh top scored with 47 runs, while Akash and Ahmer contributed 27 and 17 runs to the total respectively. Parveen was instrumental in making good partnerships with the other two contributors. For Shining Star Club, Sonu took 2 wickets, while Ajay, Vishal and Sudesh claimed 1 wicket each. Parveen Singh was adjudged man of the match for his splendid knock.
In another match, JCC thrashed Kathua XI by 7 wickets in an easy contest.
Winning the toss and batting first, Kathua XI scored a modest total of 116 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Shiv Dutt top scored with 47 runs, while Rompy Sharma and Aman contributed 21 and 17 runs respectively. Rahil Singh, Rohit and Paras Sharma took 2 wickets each, while Guru Partap Singh and Jatinder shared 1 wicket each.
JCC in reply chased the target in 15.3 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Promising left-handed batsmen Sidharth Magotra and Shubham Pundhir scored 34 runs each, while Paras Sharma contributed 14 runs the total. For Kathua XI, Mayank Goutam took 2 wickets, while Rompy claimed one.
The matches were officiated by Rahil Singh, Surinder, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Anil Kumar and Rahul Bhal.
