Rasool-led Strikers XI drubs Challengers XI by 31 runs in JKCA trial match

JAMMU, Mar 20: International cricketer Parvez Rasool-led Strikers XI drubbed Ramdayal-led Challengers XI by a margin of 31 runs in the ongoing selection trials matches, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground for picking the team to represent the State in Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket Tournament to be played at Delhi from March 24, 2015.
Batting first, Strikers XI scored a decent total of 171 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Skipper Parvez Rasool top scored with 50 unbeaten 50 runs off 41, studded with 5 fours and one six, while Bandeep Singh contributed 49 runs off 39 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six. Obaid Haroon (24), Adil Reshi (22) and Ian Dev 1-ball unbeaten (6) runs were the other contributors. For Challengers XI, skipper Ramdayal took 2 wickets, while Vishwajeet Singh, Abid Nabi and Amir Aziz claimed one wicket each. Extras contributed 10 runs to the total.
In reply, Challengers XI, despite a brilliant knock of 58 runs by Jatin Wadhawan failed to chase the target and bundled out for 140 runs to lose the match by 31 runs. Hardeep Singh contributed 30 runs to the total, while none of the other batsmen could cross the double figure mark. For Strikers XI, Sahil Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets, while Wasim Raza bagged 2 wickets and Mohd Muddasir claimed one.
In another match, Chairman XI got better of President XI by a narrow margin of 10 runs.
Batting first, Chairman XI scored a fighting total of 137 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Usman Pandit scored magnificent unbeaten 70 runs off 51 balls, studded with 3 fours and one six, while Raman Dutta, Parveen Singh and Manish Dogra contributed 20, 17 and 16 runs to the total respectively. Aamir Sofi and Vijay Dogra took one wicket each.
President XI, in reply managed to score 127 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin 10 runs. Zahoor Sofi contributed 42 runs off 33 balls with the help of 6 fours, while Pranav Gupta, Vijay Dogra and Imran Haroon contributed 30, 16 and 13 runs to the total respectively. For Chairman XI, Satish Kumar and Rahil Singh bagged 2 wickets each, while Umar Nazir and Sourav Chopra picked one wicket each.
