JAMMU, Oct 29: Ace International Powerlifter of Jammu and Kashmir, Rakesh Kumar brought laurels to the State by securing silver medal in 110 Kg category in World Powerlifting Championship 2017, organized by World Powerlifting Union at Shah Auditorium, New Delhi, recently.
Over 13 countries drawn from all over the world participated in the Championship.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rakesh Kumar also has the distinction of winning silver medal in Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship 2009.
The World Powerlifting Championship was held in India for the first time.
On his return from Delhi, the talented power-lifter was accorded a warm reception by sports lovers including office bearers of Powerlifting Association. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Amit Dutta and Inspector Bishnesh.
