Rajyawardhan wins VCA U-11 Open Khelo Jammu Chess Tourney

JAMMU, Jan 10: Promising national-level Chess player Rajyawardhan Singh clinched title of the VCA Under-11 Open Khelo Jammu Chess Tournament, organized by Vivek Chess Academy under the aegis of the All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA), here today.
Rated 1440 FIDE, Rajyawardhan displayed outstanding form by winning all five rounds to secure a perfect five points in the two-day tournament. He was awarded the Championship trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 1,000.
Rajyawardhan faced stiff competition from Ishaan Choudhary, particularly in the fourth round. Ishaan finished runner-up with four points, receiving a cash prize of Rs 600, while Keshav Mahajan secured third position with 3.5 points and a cash prize of Rs 500.
Ameena Tareen was declared best woman player and received a trophy and cash prize after a close contest with Manu Shree, both finishing with three points. Seven-year-old Raesha Thothla was named the youngest participant of the tournament.
Chairman of the organizing committee Vivek Bharti said the event successfully promoted competitive spirit among young players. All games were played using chess clocks and score sheets, with Swiss software used for pairing.
