Police Martyrs Cricket Tourney concludes

SAMBA, Mar 5: Rajput Women Cricket Club Gura Slathia amd Vijaypur Cricket Club emerged winners of the Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament in both girls and boys categories respectively and lifted the titles, organised by District Police at Gurha Slathia Sports Stadium, here today.
The event was concluded by Rajesh Sharma-SSP Samba in presence of Ajaz Zargar-Additional SP, Dr Love Karan Taneja-SDPO Vijaypur, Om Parkash-SHO Vijaypur, Sudarshan Singh Slathia-DDC member, Sarpanch Gurha Slathia, members of Guidance & Counselling Cell for Youth Development Gurha Slathia, Media fraternity and other dignitaries.
A total of 12 teams including eight boys and four girls teams from across district Samba participated in the tournament.
The final match of girls team was played between Rajput Women Cricket Club Gurha Slathia and Ramgarh Women Cricket Club wherein former defeated the later by eight wickets and lifted Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament title trophy, whereas the final match of boys team was played between NCC Gurha Slathia and Vijaypur Cricket Club in which Vijaypur CC defeated the opponent team by 88 runs and lifted the title trophy.
While speaking on the occasion, the SSP Samba said that organizing this tournament was an effort of Samba Police to channelize the energy of youth in positive direction and build a better society by keeping our youths away from drugs and other social evils. He further added that this Cricket tournament was organized in the loving memory of J&K Police Martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty.
Later, prize distribution function was held in which trophies, medals and cricket kits were presented to winner and runner-up teams along with cash prizes by the chief guest.
Moreover mementos were also presented to the umpires and other field staff for their support during the matches.
