JAMMU, Dec 1: Top brass of Police Department today held a meeting and finalized the arrangement for the 61st All India Police Hockey Championship being organised by Jammu Kashmir Police under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board from December 7 to 14.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed/Law and Order, K Rajendra Kumar, who while speaking, disclosed that more than 500 players in 26 teams representing different States and Central Police Organizations would be participating in the eight day long championship.
He said that the championship would be played at two venues in the winter capital viz KK Hakku Stadium and Jammu University.
He stressed upon the members of various committees already constituted, to ensure arrangements for the prestigious national level championship. Boarding and lodging for the guest teams were also discussed in the meeting and it was decided that convenient accommodation would be provided to the visiting teams and the management.
During the meeting, arrangements with regard to security, traffic, police bandobust, water supply and sanitation in and around the venues were also discussed.
ADGP advised the youth particularly the hockey lovers of the State to participate in the championship and refine their talent.
Later, ADGP alongwith ADGP Headquarters, SP Vaid and other senior police officers visited both the venues— KK Hakku Stadium and Jammu University grounds and gave on-the-spot instructions for smooth conduct of the matches during the championship.
Among others present were IGPs, Dilbag Singh, Arun Kumar and Abdul Ghani, DIGs, T Punchok, JP Singh, Johny William, SSPs, Vijay Singh Sambyal, Nissar Ahmed, Vijay Kumar, Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan, RK Chalotra, Mir Mohammad Choudhary, Ranjit Kanwar, Ashok Kumar Sharma, and TD Saini, besides other police officers.
