JAMMU, Sept 16: Players continued to showcase their talent on the second day of the ongoing All J&K Senior and Junior Ranking-cum-Selection Badminton Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Badminton Association at Badminton Hall, Police Line, here today.
The tournament has been organized to select the State teams in Men, Women, Junior Boys & Junior Girls categories, which will participate in the for North Zone Inter State Badminton Championships to be held at Mandi, Himahcal Pradesh.
In Under-19 Boys Singles, Raghav Dogra will lock horns with Divam Gupta in the summit clash tomorrow. Earlier in the first semis, Ragav Dogra beat Adam by 21-18 and 21-19, while the second semifinal was won by Divam Gupta, who smashed Harsh by straight two zero sets (21-14 and 21-10).
In under-19 Boys Doubles, Adam and Harsh crushed Ragav and Mohit in the final by 2-1 sets (21-18, 11-21 and 21-18) and clinched the title trophy.
In under19 Girls Singles, Peehushi beat Naman by straight 2-0 sets with the score of 21-16 and 21-17.
In under-19 Mixed Doubles, Naman and Mohit will clash with Savinay and Niteshi in the final tomorrow. Earlier in the first semifinal, Naman and Rohit defeated Vidushi and Aryan by 2-0 sets (21-10 and 21-16) and in the second semifinal, Savinay and Niteshi registered win over Surandeep and Peehushi by straight 2-0 sets and the score remained 21-19 and 22-20.
In Men Singles, Vipul Saini, Vasu Bhagat, Vikram Saini and Divam Gupta crushed rivals in their respective matches and entered into the semifinal stage. Vipul Saini smashed Divyum Langeh by 2-0 sets (21-8 and 21-12), Vasu Bhagat registered win over Dhananjay by 2-0 sets (21-18 and 21-14), Vikram Saini thrashed Munish by 2-1 sets and the score remained 21-15, 16-21 and 21-18 and Divam Gupta trounced Harsh Mahajan by straight 2-0 sets (21-10 and 21-12).
In the first match in Men Doubles, Munish Divyam registered win over Gurvinder and Aman in the first match by straight 2-0 sets with the score of 21-18 and 23-21. In the second match, Sunil and Ragav beat Rahul and Vasu by 2-0 sets (21-19 and 21-17).
In Women Singles, Peehushi will take on Keerat in the summit clash tomorrow. Earlier in the first semis, Peehushi beat Diksha Mahajan by 2-0 sets (21-04 and 21-12) and in the second semis, Keerat crushed Prabhjot by straight 2-0 sets with the score of 21-12 and 21-18.
In Women Doubles, Preeti and Niteshi smashed Rupal and Keerat and clinched the title trophy by 2-1 sets and the score remained 21-14, 18-21 and 24-22.
The matches were played under the supervision of Satpal Sharma, Badminton Coach and Balbir Jamwal, General Secretary, Jammu District Badminton Association.
