SRINAGAR, Sept 21: Qamran Iqbal struck a brilliant century while Abdul Samad scored a fluent 88 as Jammu and Kashmir posted 303/8 against Punjab on Day 1 of a four-day practice match at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar. The match is part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.
Displaying elegance and control, Qamran hammered 131 runs, including 11 stylish boundaries. Samad played a typically aggressive innings, hitting six fours and two towering sixes in his 88-run knock. Other contributions came from Shubham Khajuria (20) and Musaif Ajaz (17).
For Punjab, Sahil Khan emerged as the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets. This is the first of two scheduled practice matches between J&K and Punjab, with the second-a three-day game-set to be played in Chandigarh from September 29. The matches aim to fine-tune team combinations and form ahead of the competitive domestic season.
