KATRA, Apr 18: Wrestler Kirti of Ropar (Punjab) lifted 35th Salora Kesari 2019 title by defeating Goldy of Garh Shanker (Punjab) in first malli bout that lasted for 21 minutes at Salora in Jammu.
Dangal was organized by Salora Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President Salora Dangal Committee, Chuni Lal Ramotra and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra.
Social activist Parshotam Singh was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up Wrestlers.
Former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma who is also Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India presided over the function.
SHO Mohd Shokat, Sarpanch Makhan Lal, Sarpanch Bansi Lal Sharma and Sarpanch Suraz Deen were the guests of honour. Prominent persons present on the occasion were Sat Paul Verma, Om Parkash Verma, Contractor Tara Chand and ex Sarpanch Mohd Sadiq.
In all, 46 bouts were played in the day long Dangal.
The winner of 1st malli bout Kirti was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 18,000 by Parshotam Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Chuni Lal Ramotra and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra, while the runners-up Wrestler Goldy was presented Rs 13,000 by Sarpanchs Makhan Lal, Bansi Lal Sharma and Suraz Deen.
The second main bouts were fought between Nisar of Doda and Mehar Singh of Delhi; Ajay Sharma of Udhampur and Aman of Garh Shanker and Vikas of Bhadurgarh (Haryana) and Munner of Nagrota. All the three second malli bouts ended in a draw and all the six Wrestlers were cash awarded with Rs 6,000 each.
