JAMMU, Feb 20: Strong Punjab crushed hapless Jammu and Kashmir by 9 wickets in the Senior Women’s T20 League at MBB Stadium, Agartala today.
Earlier, bating first, J&K scored a paltry total of 61 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Nadia Chowdhary was the only batswomen to cross double figure mark, scoring 13 runs, while Jaspreet Kour and Rubia Syed contributed 8 runs each and Meenu Singh Slathia chipped in with 7 runs. Sapna Jamwal and Sheeraza Bano remained unbeaten on 6 and 5 runs respectively.
From Punjab, Neelam Bisht took 2 wickets, while Diksha Dogra, Mehak Kesar and BN Meena claimed on e wicket each.
In reply, Punjab scored the required runs in just 9 overs, losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. J&K’s Jasia Akhter, who plays for Punjab top scored with unbeaten 32 runs off 30 balls, studded with 5 delectable boundaries, while Amarpal Kour contributed 28 runs off 23 balls, with the help of 4 fours. Ridhima Aggarwal was the only batswomen out for Punjab, who was scalped by skipper Sarla Devi for nought.
With this win, Punjab earned 4 points, while J&K failed to secure any point.
