Bhopal, May 6: Punjab were crowned winners of the 8th Hockey India junior national championship for men after they defeated Haryana 4-2 in the title clash here today.
Hockey Gangpur-Odisha secured the bronze medal as they beat Hockey Odisha 6-1 in the game for the third place.
In the final, Punjab came from two goals down to get the better of Haryana.
Gursahibjit Singh scored a hat-trick for Punjab as he found the back of the net in the 42nd, 57th and 65th minutes while Karajwinder Singh (70′) added to the tally.
Haryana’s two goals were scored by Deepak (26′) and Mohit (37′). (PTI)
