UDHAMPUR, May 28: The eves of district Pulwama and district Udhampur shared honours in State Level Inter-District Under-14 and Under-17 Girls Handball Tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Mini Stadium, here today.
139 girls drawn from 6 districts of J&K State participated in the Tournament, which was held under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports.
Arun Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion, who declared the tournament closed, while Chander Parkash, Superintendent (Medical Department) was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sharma stressed upon the participants to take part in games and sports for physical and mental fitness. He later-on distributed the medals and trophies among the winners and runner-up teams.
Earlier, in Under-14 girls, Pulwama defeated Udhampur by (07-03) to win the title, while in Under-17 girls, Udhampur clinched the title trophy by defeating Pulwama with (09-02).
The Tournament was held under the supervision of Sukhdev Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur.
The final matches were officiated by Ravi Singh, Ajay Sharma, Rishi Sharma, Vikrant Balgotra, Karun Magotra, Pooja Sharma, Ravi Kumar and Vipen Photra.
Among others present on the occasion were Ram Lal Badyal, ZPEO Kulwanta; Usha Kumari ZPEO Chenani; Pawan Kumar, Santosh Kumari, Deepika Manhas, Sushma Rani, Anupama Devi, Som Dev Khajuria, Naveen Sharma and Sanjay Sharma.
