KATHUA, Mar 10: PTS (B) registered one wicket victory over its opponent team Stadium XI in a nail biting final match and claimed the title trophy of “Kathua Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament”, being organized by district police at District Sports Stadium.
Batting first, Stadium XI scored 121 runs for the loss of eight wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Arvind remained top scorer with 29 runs, while Shiv Dutt and Mannu contributed 27 with 20 runs respectively.
For PTS (B) side, Vinny Raina and Shouqat scalped 2 wickets each.
In the second inning, PTS-B scored the target by losing nine wickets during the process. Vinny Raina scored 38 runs and Niteesh also contributed 23 runs.
For stadium XI side, Jatinder Kaka was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped three wickets, while Himanshu took 2 wickets.
On the valedictory function, Member of Parliament (MP) Choudhary Lal Singh was the chief guest, who distributed prizes amongst the winners in presence of Deputy Commissioner Zahida Khan, citizens and sports lovers.
Vinny Raina was declared as man of the match in the final match and was awarded with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 2,100, whereas Man of the series trophy and cash prize of Rs 5,000 was presented to Arvind Bhardwaj. Best Batsman trophy and cash prize of Rs 2,100 was awarded to Arvind Bhardwaj, whereas, Best Bowler trophy and cash prize of Rs 2,100 was presented to Rajesh Gupta, best fielder trophy and cash prize of Rs 2,100 was awarded to Nishant Singh and Fair play award was presented to RCC Billawar for exhibiting exemplary cricket in terms of discipline.
Earlier, SSP Kathua Atul Kumar Goel inaugurated the final match and asked the players to play the game with true sportsmanship.
During the tournament, 42 teams participated and a total of 41 matches were played.
