JAMMU, Nov 19: Project Model Higher Secondary School Janipur (PMHSS) defeated Vishwa Bharti Public School (VBPS) Jammu in a thrilling contest by 3 runs in the ongoing Under-16 School Cricket tournament, being organised by Country Cricket Club and Project Model Higher Secondary School Janipur at Country Cricket ground, Gharota, near here.
Batting first after winning the toss, PMHSS team scored a total of 158 runs. Rudra top scored with 51 runs, while Arman, Nand Lal and Shourya contributed 23, 13 and 12 runs to the total respectively.
From the VBPS, Ketan took 2 wickets, while Ishan and Manik claimed one wicket each.
The VBPS managed to score 156 runs and fell just three runs. The innings by Yogesh (31), Ketan (29) Madhav (14) and Ashutosh (13) were the contributors to the total.
The PMHSS bowler Nand Lal took 6 wickets, Arun got 3 wickets and Ayush claimed 1 wickets.
The guests of honour for today’s match was the former Ranji Trophy player, Abdul Quyoom who was accompanied with Vivek Sharma former Ranji Trophy Player. Quyoom gave vital advice to the budding players and laid stress that the fitness and the long version of the game should be the first preference of the young starters.
He appreciated the efforts of the organizers in arranging all the logistics.
Joginder Singh, the team Coach VBPS was the other distinguished attendee.
