Prinkle eying triple title, Sumitpal wins U-16 doubles

JAMMU, Aug 1: J&K’s ace tennis player, Prinkle Singh is eying a triple title by winning the Under-16 doubles title and entering into the finals of the Under-14 and Under-16 singles events of HTA Super Series at Harvest Tennis Academy Jagraon in Ludhiana.
In the doubles final, Prinkle alongwith her partner Arushi Kakkar of Punjab defeated the pair of Sanya of Maharashtra and Bajwa of Chandigarh by (6-3, 6-2).
Earlier, in the semifinal, quarterfinal, the duo defeated Avishka Gupta and Nisha Rani of Haryana, Sarah Dev and Plecevic Ivona of Punjab respectively and were awarded bye in the pre-quarters and the first round.
In Under-14 singles, Prinkle entered finals by defeating Muskan of Delhi by (6-1, 6-2) in the semifinals.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Prinkle defeated Mokshi Neha of Maharashtra by (6-1, 6-0), while in pre-quarters and first round, she got better of Mangat Rahat of Chandigarh and Itika Sharma of Rajasthan by (6-0, 6-3) and (6-2, 6-2) respectively.
Prinkle Singh also sealed berth in the finals of the Under-16 singles event by defeating Neeru of Haryana in the semifinal by (6-4, 6-2).
In the quarterfinals, pre-quarterfinals and the first round, Prinkle prevailed over Sanya Singh of Maharashtra, Plecevic Ivona of Punjab and Jhanvi of Chandigarh by (6-0, 6-1), (6-4,6-1) and (6-0,6-0) respectively.
Meanwhile, another tennis player of Jammu and Kashmir, Sumitpal Singh in company with Paras Dahiya of Haryana won the Under-16 doubles title by defeating the duo of Parampun of Chandigarh and Badola of Uttrakhand in an easy contest in summit clash.
