JAMMU, Feb 15: A poster making competition and guest lecture was organised by the Girdari Lal Dogra College, Hiranagar in collaboration with National Environmental Awareness Campaign on the theme “Biodiversity conservation”, here.
The event was organised under the supervision of Prof Vijay Kumar Chandan, HoD Botany.
OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Chief Conservator of Forests, Eco-Tourism was the resource person on this occasion.
Earlier, Dr Ram Krishan Sharma, Principal of the College presented the welcome address and advised the students to follow the guidelines given by the resource person for Biodiversity conservation.
The resource person spoke at length about the various forms of Biodiversity existing in nature. He said that we are being proud to be born in such a mega diverse country but only is the need how to conserve and maintain it for future generation which forms the very basis for survival of human beings.
11 students participated in poster making competition, in which Rupali of B Sc Part-I, Neha Rajput of B Sc Part-I and Radhika of BSc Part-I were adjudged as first, second and third respectively.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Daya Vilas Khajuria and the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof Vijay Kumar Chandan.
Senior faculty members Prof Kawaljeet Kour, Prof TK Sharma, Prof Neeraj Gupta, Prof Balbir Kumar, Prof Rachna and Prof Monika Mahajan were present on the occasion.
