POONCH, Mar 24: The sixth edition of Poonch Premier League commenced with great enthusiasm at Sports Stadium Poonch under the banner of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” dedicated to the nation’s martyrs.
MLA Haveli Aijaz Ahmed Jan inaugurated the tournament as chief guest, assuring full support for the development of sports infrastructure in Poonch and urging youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle with the message, “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Sports.” Mohammad Qasim attended as guest of honour.
The event is organized by the Youth of Poonch in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Sports Council Unit Poonch and PPL Management, with support from the Indian Army (7 JAT Unit), District Police, Civil Administration, and Medical Department.
In the opening match, Poonch Spartans set a target of 144 in 20 overs, which Nanak Panthers successfully chased, scoring 144/6 for a four-wicket victory. Kafeel Manhas was named Man of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring 34 runs off 19 balls and taking four wickets.
