Poonch district wins galaxy of medals in Taekwondo C’ship

POONCH, Feb 16: Taekwondo players of district Poonch won 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in recently concluded 22nd J&K UT Taekwondo Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association (JKTA) in collaboration with Directorate of Sports, University of Jammu from February 13 to 15.
30 players of the district Poonch participated in the mega event under the guidance of Rajinder Singh, National Referee of Taekwondo and posted as Physical Education Teacher in DYSS and Ashaq Hussain Assistant coach of the district.
In sub junior, Tawashak Tripathi clinched Gold, Mohd Adil Khan and Zahid Bashir bagged Silver, while Krishna Dutta and Mudabir Ayaz won Bronze respectively.
In cadet, Vishnu Raina clinched Gold in 33kg, Vishvas Sudan won Gold in 44 kg, Akarshit Sudan bagged in 53 kg, Toseef Tahir won God in 48 kg, Jessica Singh succeeded to Gold in 44 kg, Qasim Hussain won Silver in 38 kg, Manpreet Kour bagged Silver in 38kg and Khalida Jabeen won Silver in 41kg.
In junior, Harshdev Singh , Saksham Sharma, Karan Bharghav and Manmeet Singh also excelled by clinching medals.
On returning to Poonch, President of Poonch District Taekwondo Associationm (PDTA), Makhan Lal Bhaglal, Vice President, Premparkash Luthra, Secretary Priyanka Singh and Organising Secretary, Amit Sharma congratulated to all players for bringing laurel to district by winning galaxy of medals.
They requested to Social Welfare Department Programme District Officer to felicitate all champion Taekwondo girls Under “Beti Padao Beti Bachao Scheme” (BPBBS).
