Polo Promotional & Training Camp concludes

LEH, Aug 13: Twelve days Polo Promotional and Training Camp organized for ladies by Himalayan Sports and Cultural Organization Drass in collaboration with Secmol Leh concluded today at Bhimbhat Shagaran Polo Ground, in which 10 girls from all over Ladakh got expert training. The camp concluded with an exhibition polo game.
On the occasion, SDM Drass Barkat Ali Nizami was the chief guest and Commander 56 Mountain Brigade, Brigadier H Bhalla was the guest of honour.
Barkat Ali Nizami told that this is a new era in the history of traditional sports and revival of Polo Game in J&K. He added that girls who participated in the camp are the history makers.
Mohammad Amin, President, Polo Promotion Committee Kargil and Chairman of the Organization said that it is an initiative which was finalized in March during an informal meeting with the renowned educationist and reformist Dr Sonam Wangchuk at Kargil.
He further added that the Organization is trying to send a women team from J&K for the first time for National Polo Tournament to be held in Manipur in September-October.
This initiative will boost the participation of women in sports like Horse Polo and Ice Hockey which will help in showcasing the talent of the girl child of this frontier region, he added.
