JAMMU, Oct 1: The Business School, University of Jammu lifted the coveted Dr Jagmohan Singh Memorial Trophy in the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Debating Competition conducted by the Department of Student Welfare, University of Jammu, under the ongoing ‘Display Your Talent’ at Seminar Hall, Department of Computer Science & IT, University of Jammu, here.
Polina Singh Kala from Govt College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, was adjudged first, while Perveez Ahmed Pedhar from Govt Degree College, Banihal and Marina Anthony from Govt Women College, Parade, Jammu, bagged second and third prize respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Abhinandan Singh from Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, Apoorva Jamwal from Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Sahil Mehta from Govt. MAM College, Jammu
The Topic was “Facilitating Deliberations can make Civil Society and Democracy Strong”. The participants expressed their views For and Against the motion in Hindi, Urdu and English in the given time of five minutes.
Over 50 students from various teaching Departments of University and its affiliate Colleges participated in the competition.
Prof Rita Jitendra, Prof Zahur-ud-Din and Dr Anupama Vohra were the adjudicators for the Competition.
The competition was conducted under the overall supervision of Dr Vishvaraksha from PG Department of Sociology, the Teacher-in-charge for the said event and she also acquainted the participants with the Rules and Regulations.
The proceedings were conducted by Suresh Singh.
The prizes were distributed by Prof Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee in presence of Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare.
Among others Nidhi Kaila, Secretary, Students Cultural Council and Harmeet Kour, Joint Secretary were also present.
