Police organizes Deaf & Dumb cricket match

JAMMU, Feb 16: Deaf & Dumb cricket match was organized by Range Police Headquarters Jammu, under Civic Action Programme-2016-17 at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
The main motto of this cricket match was to explore the talent of physically challenged youth.
Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Jammu declared the match open by releasing the balloons.
Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the physically challenged cricketers for their participation and threw light on the motto of activity.
Sports uniforms and full cricket kit was presented to the teams in presence of various dignitaries of the Police Department and Deaf and Dumb Association of J&K.
Earlier, Team Red won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Team Red scored a decent total of 125 runs, losing all 10 wickets in the process.
In reply, Team Blue chased the targt by losing 7 wickets to lose the match by 3 wickets.
Shubam Kumar scored 42 runs and was declared as the man of the match. He was presented a cash award and a certificate by the Chief Guest.
SD Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Jammu presided over the function and distributed the trophies and other prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The medals/certificates were also given to the all players and umpires/scorers during the valedictory function.
The match was witnessed by over 500 people from all walks of life, who lauded the role of J&K Police and appreciated it for organizing such activity under Civic Action Programme.
The match was organized under the close supervision of Rajnish Pran, SSP SO to DIG JSK Range and Parshotam Lal Sharma, Deputy Director Prosecution RPHQ Jammu and assisted by other Staff of RPHQ Jammu.
SI Neelam Saini, I/C PP Canal Jammu was the architect behind the proceedings of the match and the valedictory function.
