SAMBA, Aug 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a grand anti-drug awareness programme under Civic Action Programme at Government Higher Secondary School Sarore where hundreds of students, parents, teachers, prominent citizens, PRI members and police officers witnessed the speeches delivering competition.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba Benam Tosh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Samba Surinder Choudhary, DySP DAR Samba Ajay Anand, SDPO Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar, SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar and SHO Police Station Bari Brahmana Sunil Sharma presented certificates and cash rewards of Rs 12000, Rs 8000 and Rs 5000 to the first, second and third best student speakers respectively, whereas five other student speakers were also felicitated with certificates and cash rewards of Rs 2000 each.
DDC Chairperson Sureya Begum appreciated the police for organizing grand anti-drug awareness programmes at Sarore to generate awareness among students and public against drug abuse.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba Benam Tosh said that Police is organizing series of anti-drugs programmes like symposiums, seminars and debates at different schools and colleges with the objective of creating anti-narcotic awareness among students, youth, parents, guardians, relatives and making it a mass movement against drugs especially heroin called “chitta”.
The officer said Sarore is no more a hotspot and police has succeeded in busting all hideouts of heroin smugglers and chitta hotspots in Samba district and notorious heroin suppliers, smugglers and drug peddlers are either in Jail or have left the district. He said nobody would be allowed to flourish with illicit drug smuggling, supplying and peddling and Police has almost controlled the drug menace by arresting top suppliers and booking others.
