Police organize awareness program on drug abuse at GHSS Mansar

SAMBA, May 30: Police today organized an awareness programme on drug abuse at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Mansar under CAP.
Hundreds of students of GHSS Mansar, Government Middle School (GMS) Mansar, GMS Channi, Government Primary School Mansar, Janta Academy Channi, and other nearby schools participated in the anti-drug awareness programme organized by J&K Police.
During the program, hundreds of students of Government and private schools, parents, teachers, prominent citizens and police officers witnessed the speech delivering competition on drug abuse.
In the competition, Sherya of GHSS Mansar, Shipali Sharma of GHSS Mansar and Usha Rani of GMS Channi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively while Baby Verma of GMS Channi, Vasudev Sharma of Janta Academy Mansar, Priyanshi of GHSS Mansar, Piyush Gupta of GHSS Mansar and Bhawani Devi of GPS Mansar received consolation prizes.
SSP Samba Benam Tosh, Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, Deputy SP DAR Samba Ajay Anand, Inspector Rajesh Kumar and Incharge Police Post Mansar Deepak Sharma presented certificates and cash rewards of Rs 12000, Rs 8000 and Rs 5000 to the first, second and third best student speakers, respectively, whereas five other student speakers were also presented with certificates and cash rewards of Rs 2000 each.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority Ved Parkash, DDC Member Amit Sharma, Principal GHSS Mansar Charu Anand, BDO Majalta Vishal Sadotra, Sarpanch Mansar Sunita Sharma and Sarpanch Showket Ali also graced the occasion.
On the occasion, SSP Samba said that police is organizing awareness programmes at the schools and colleges as preventive strategy to save students from drug menace, even as stringent legal action against drug suppliers, smugglers and peddlers is underway and drug de-addiction of addicted youth is also being advised by police at Drug De-addiction Centres.
