JAMMU, May 2: Outplaying Department of Math by 9 wickets in the semifinals, the Department of Political Science sealed berth in the finals of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket (Men) Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, under the supervision of its Director, Dhian Singh Bhau at University of Jammu grounds, here.
Earlier, put into bat, Department of Math scored a modest total of 112 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Sumit top scored with 48 runs, while Sunny and Arjun contributed 20 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For Political Science Department, Shakeel Ahmed and Narinder bagged 2 wickets each, while Touseef claimed one.
In reply, Political Science Department chased the target easily in 10.5 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Fasil top scored with quick-fire 74 runs off 38 balls, studded with 8 fours and 3 sixes, while Shakeel contributed 33 off 23 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six. For Math Department, Gurdev Singh claimed the lone wicket to fall.
