DODA, June 10: Pirates of Chittagong (POC) Bangladesh smashed Knight Riders Thathri by 6 wickets and lifted All India 11th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship title at Sports Stadium here.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Knight Riders Thathri set a target of 121 runs for the loss of all wickets in 18.4 overs game. Rahul Mussa was the highest scorer with 28 runs whileas Akash contributed with 25 runs.
From POC Bangladesh side, Munir-ur-Zaman was the pick of the bowler with 4 wickets and Tariq Aziz took 3 wickets.
In reply, POC Bangladesh after getting a good start chased the target in 13.1 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Yasir Ali was the top scorer with 49 runs whileas Sajad-ul-Haque Ripon made 29 runs.
From Knight Riders Thathri side, Akash and Hrithik shared 2 wickets each.
Munir-ur-Zaman of POC Bangladesh was declared as man of the match for best bowling performance, whereas Ashu of Kight Riders Thathri team was declared as man of the series.
On the valedictory function, Special Secretary, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports Officer J&K Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed was the chief guest, who presented title trophy to POC Bangladesh with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 40,000 to the runner up team in presence of DDC Doda Bhupinder Kumar, 2 IC 10RR Lt Col Kailash Jha, SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas, Executive Engineer PHE Division Doda Er Wahid Zargar, DySP Headquarters Qayoom Runyal, DySP DAR Nisar Ahmed, District Youth Services and Sports Officer and Administrator Auqaf Asif Jahan Gattu.
The final match was officiated by Munish Zutshi and Arif-ur-Rehman Sujan as umpires, whereas Rinku Bhaduria acted as scorer.
The tournament was organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda, which was sponsored by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, J&K Bank and Natnoo Furnishing House Doda.
