JAMMU/POONCH, Nov 9: Players showed class, serenity, guts and grit to vie for the top honours in the ongoing State Senior Billiards Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
In the league matches played, Vishal Abrol defeated Mandeep Singh (2-0) by 100-64, 100-50; Ashish Pathania beat Umar Humanyun (2-1) by 101-69, 81-102, 101-49; Aditya Sharma got better of Akhil Tandon (2-0) by 101-99, 100-68; Vidit Gawri prevailed over Aseem Ghai (2-0) by 101-88, 100-78; Ishuk Choudhary outplayed Kashif (2-0) by 100-71, 100-42; Nikhil Kapahi drubbed Aseem Ghai (2-0) by 100-46, 100-56 and Sohail Khalid defeated Akhil Tandon (2-0) by 100-03, 101-66.
Meanwhile,, the 1st Snooker Championship Poonch concluded at Youth Club Poonch, today.
Imran Sheikh won the title by defeating Surinder Singh by 2-1 (61-49, 14-60, 38-40, 49-44, 41-39)..
Earlier, in the semifinals, Surinder outclassed Saleem Bandey and Imran Sheikh beat Ali Mustafa.
Ch. Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, who distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
The programme was jointly conducted for Snooker and 26th District Table Tennis Championship Poonch in the Recreation Hall of Government Degree College Poonch. Both the events were organized by Er. Saleem Bandey.
